Sixth grade computer class we used these beige pizza box shaped Compaq machines running Windows 95. It was typing, completing basic utilities, word processing, nothing too fancy. A few people in the class had computers at home, myself included thanks to my dad, so we were unofficial instructors to people who didn’t and might have trouble. I remember learning a ton that year about people and computers save one thing: everyone liked them as much as me. Pity!
One thing was cool overall there was a tribal feeling of togetherness when I taught the class, teacher included, of this little treasure. The game was kinda meh but it was a good time sink and was buried away in a nest of folders, thus adding to the allure. I showed it to people near me, soon a few more and then the entire class. Since I had been playing the game at home, I was good and pretty soon a nice competitive sport was shared by the entire class. It didn’t matter who you sat next to or social standing, everyone was having fun.
I just remembered this fun little social meme thanks to Lazy Game Review of Hover.
